Entertainment in the Spotlight

Curator
Taylor Faust, co-creator of the Let's Talk: Marvel Fan Theories podcast

Why did you choose this theme?
As a pop-culture junkie, I know firsthand how overwhelming the entertainment landscape can be. The great thing about podcasts is that you can find shows that deep-dive into one topic/franchise or give you a quick-hit overview of the industry. I wanted to share some shows that I’ve really enjoyed that have helped me keep up with the biggest cultural moments in entertainment.

Skytalkers
Hayden Christensen Interview (Obi-Wan Kenobi)

EarBuds curator Taylor is a newer Star Wars fan, so it's fun for her to hear the perspective of two women who have a knowledge of the franchise that is way deeper than her own. This episode in particular is a great one because the hosts interview the actor who plays Anakin Skywalker himself: Hayden Christensen.

Let's Talk: Marvel Fan Theories
She-Hulk Predictions

EarBuds curator Taylor co-hosts this podcast, which covers all of the new Marvel content on Disney+ in addition to new Marvel films, and, together with her co-host, Katie, offers predictions and reactions. This episode is a great entry point if you’re looking to get a little background on all things She-Hulk (or if you’ve already seen it, to see how Taylor and Katie did with their predictions for the show).

National Treasure Hunt
Hunt for Facts

EarBuds curator Taylor has always loved the National Treasure movies, so discovering a podcast solely dedicated to the franchise was a pretty awesome find for her. This episode breaks down what the first movie got right in terms of the history and where it got a little creative. It’s a great episode for any history buffs out there.

All Songs Considered
New Music Friday: The Best Releases Out On April 8

Are you ever torn between listening to a podcast or putting on some music when you're on the move? One of EarBuds curator Taylor's favorite things about All Songs Considered is that they play parts of the songs they’re discussing, so you get the best of both worlds! This episode is one of her favorites, because it was how she discovered that an artist she likes, Banks, had released a new album.

Pop Culture Happy Hour
Beyoncé’s Renaissance

If you don’t have the time to keep up with every hot show, movie, album, etc. at the forefront of the cultural zeitgeist, Pop Culture Happy Hour is a great podcast for at least getting the gist of the content everyone is talking about. This episode is a great listen if you’re looking for a recap of one of the hottest album drops of 2022.

This week in Podcast The Newsletter: Popcorn Psychology is a podcast where three therapists (an individual therapist, a child therapist, and a marriage/family therapist) psychoanalyze your favorite blockbuster movies and fictional characters. Fictional characters you love and despise are fleshed out by getting a look under the psychologist's microscope. Should they be medicated? How are they dealing with trauma? What’s their diagnosis? (Reminder…it’s solely for entertainment purposes.)
