In honor of Black History Month, I want to celebrate Black creators making history every day! These five podcasts represent five very different topical areas but are all markedly representative of the Black experience.

He's the former executive producer of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and New Jersey, and helped these franchises become household names. Carlos goes behind the scenes of reality TV shows' most iconic moments, and in this episode, he ranks the top five reality shows of 2022.

She developed an “Angie’s List” of sorts for Black women to find therapists. This episode discusses the science behind seasonal mood changes and gives tips for managing depression.

Spotify has announced that almost 600 people (6%) will be laid off. Daniel Ek announced in a memo that Chief Content Officer Dawn Ostroff is to leave the company; “Alex [Norström] will take on the responsibility for the content, advertising and licensing work going forward."
The top spender in podcast advertising last month was Betterhelp, who spent an estimated $9.1 million according to new data from Magellan AI. JP Morgan Chase, a US bank, was the biggest new spender, spending $1.3m.
Podcast downloads increased by 20% last year, says Triton Digital in the company’s first US Year-End Podcast Report (pdf). Listeners downloaded 5.6 episodes a week on average, representing 3.8 hours of content.
