American Education

Why did you choose this theme?
We are in a moment when teachers are leaving the classroom and education is a political focus. There have been several outstanding podcasts exploring layers of education from juvenile justice, to equity in classrooms, to curricular monopolies, to teacher attrition. As a teacher, these are the podcasts that I appreciate and recommend to anyone who wants to know more about what is happening in education.

🎤This week in Podcast The Newsletter: In 1995, Carole Fisher was looking for love so her friend Mindy introduced to Bob Bierenbaum, a Jewish plastic surgeon who flew planes and spoke several languages. He was “perfect on paper,” a fact that allowed Carole to dismiss several red flags. Like telling her that his ex-wife Gail was missing and presumed dead but he definitely did not kill her!!!! Carol and Mindy start talking about him and along with a bunch of other girlfriends, start this sort of armchair detective club where they attempt to track down what happened to Gail. It was a joke. But the dots start to connect in The Girlfriends.
🎵Interval Presents premiered its new celebrity interview series, Yeah, I F*cked That Up. PODCAST NEWS from Podnews:
The actor union Sag-Aftra joined the Hollywood writers' strike on Friday for what they call a fair contract. The union also represents some journalists, radio personalities, broadcasters, and voice actors. It is likely to put a hold on some podcast production, since it includes voice acting and narration. It’s the first time both writers and performers have been on strike simultaneously for 63 years. (And yes, there’s a podcast for that: Deadline’s Strike Talk).
YouTube could be great at finding new listeners for your podcast, according to a study into podcast consumption on YouTube from Veritonic. 65% of people who watch a podcast on YouTube are consuming it for the first time, the data says.
