Why did you choose this theme?
For the last year, I've been reporting on the hidden history of the abortion pill, and I found a wild story that sounds like it came out of an Ocean’s Eleven flick. These are a few resources I've looked at during my reporting.

Cover Up: The Pill Plot
This is the show that EarBuds curator T.J. has been reporting since 2022. What's it about? Well, back in the ‘90s, a ragtag group plotted an international drug smuggling scheme and set up a secret lab to cook up tablets. But they weren’t trafficking narcotics — they were fighting to bring the abortion pill to America. This show takes you inside the epic struggle facing activists who battled presidents, the Supreme Court, militant anti-abortionists, would-be assassins, and murderers.
Abortion, Everyday
This podcast is accessible through host Jessica Valenti's substack, which is an incredibly important resource that really does a fantastic job curating and analyzing the new and seemingly endless daily challenges to abortion access in America.
The Ezra Klein Show
The Ethics of Abortion
This episode features Kate Greasley, a law professor at the University of Oxford and co-author of Abortion Rights: For and Against, alongside Christopher Kaczor, a philosopher who opposes abortion.
The Daily
Pregnant at 16
This episode of The Daily from last year was really moving. It features Tara Wicker and Lakeesha Harris, two women in Louisiana whose lives led them to very different positions in the fight over abortion access.
The Girls Who Went Away
This is an audiobook about the deeply troubling “baby scoop era” in the decades before Roe v. Wade, when more than 1 million young American women and girls who got pregnant out of wedlock were sent to mother and baby homes in the U.S. to give birth and then surrender their children.
